Inspired by using traditional shaping, and connecting techniques on contemporary materials. Taking an industrial material and process it in an unconventional way.

Ductile Assembly is a shelving system that consists of aluminium tubing as a column and acrylic sheet as supporting surface. Deforming the acrylic sheet makes the acrylic stiff. The tubes are pushed trough the acrylic with applied heat. After the material cools down and shrinks, the acrylic grips on to the tubes and makes a strong connection. These processes result in a shelving system that consists only of 2 materials and 2 elements. The way of treating the material gives a new perspective on using material properties as a tool to construct.
